The Black River Canyon, near Watertown, New York, is a rare whitewater gem ... a unusual warm-water Mecca, where summertime rafting is as good as it gets anywhere. The narrow canyon forces the river through a constricted passageway where boulders and ledges turn the fast moving water into a maelstrom of whitewater foam and fury. 

Come during May and June for the highest flows and most powerful whitewater.  This is a hang-on-to-your-hats rafting trip, where teamwork and strong paddling are the key.  A summertime rafting trip is a real fun-in-the-sun beach-party-style river adventure.  The whitewater is still exciting, and the canyon offers idyllic coves and eddies for swimming, snacking or just plain relaxing. 

Ours is the longest whitewater rafting trip offered on the Black River, including all the rapids like Club House Turn, Hole Brothers, Three Rocks, Cruncher and Rocket Ride.  An on-river snack and cookout dinner are included with each rafting trip.

Stay an extra day, for a second rafting trip through the canyon, or to enjoy nearby hiking, canoeing or kayaking opportunities, or to explore the famous Thousand Islands Region, just a short drive from Watertown.

The Whitewater Challengers Rafting Center is conveniently located right on the shores of the Black River, in Dexter, New York, about 6 miles west of Watertown.   We're adjacent to the Black River Bay Campground ... a favorite overnight destination for many of our whitewater rafting guests.  For those who prefer, there are also a number of nearby motels, hotels and B&B's.
